Addis Ababa, March 14, 2026 (Megabit 05, 2018 E.C.) – Senior officials of the Immigration and Citizenship Service (ICS) visited the operational activities of the Macedonia Home for the Elderly and Mentally Ill, touring various departments of the center. During the visit, it was stated that the purpose of the tour was not only to support the center’s operations but also to show solidarity with its beneficiaries.
Her Excellency Selamawit Dawit, Director General of the Immigration and Citizenship Service, noted that the service is currently reaching the public with greater diligence than ever before—offering diverse services through an expanded branch network, higher quality, and digital options. She emphasized that visiting Macedonia is an expression of fulfilling the institution’s corporate social responsibility.
The Director General added that beyond its legally mandated duties, the institution is committed to social causes. “Ethiopia thanks you for standing by its citizens to this extent,” she told the center’s staff during the tour.
During the visit, the Immigration and Citizenship Service provided a 5 million Birr donation to Macedonia Home and hosted a lunch program for the center’s residents.
Dr. Biniyam Belete, who received the gift from the Director General and Deputy Directors, expressed his gratitude, noting: “We have known the Immigration and Citizenship Service for its previous charitable works; we thank you for today’s support as well.”
The Director General concluded by stating that no amount of support is “enough” for the work Macedonia does, but confirmed that the institution remains ready to assist the center in the future by mobilizing resources from its employees.
The visit was attended by Deputy Directors General, senior management officials, and staff members of the Immigration and Citizenship Service.
